چکیده
Background and Purpose: During the coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic, a considerable number of studies have focused on difficulties for accessing medical services telemedicinerelated issues. However, it is not clear whether COVID-19 affects clinical course epilepsy. Therefore, in current study we aimed to assess effects infection seizure frequency patients with epilepsy (PWE).Methods: We evaluated PWE who consecutively referred neurology clinics 22 Bahman Qaem hospitals, had experienced recent polymerase chain reaction-confirmed-COVID-19 infection. Data were collected through pre-defined electronic questionnaire. Results: A total 104 included. Females represented 52% population. The mean age was 36.73±17.87. Thirty-six (34%) reported increased frequency. exacerbated significantly lower than non-exacerbated group (27.50±9.8 vs. 40.14±18.39; <i>p</i>=0.005). male higher (52% 25%; <i>p</i>=0.014). majority history drug resistance (44.4% 8.5%; <i>p</i>=0.022). epileptic seizures before (<i>p</i>=0.04).Conclusions: About 34% after Male patients, young resistance, at risk exacerbation. Our results highlight importance screening, early diagnosis, treatment PWE.

متن کاملBumetanide reduces seizure frequency in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy.
Alterations in the balance of K-Na-2Cl cotransporter (NKCC1) and Na-Cl cotransporter (KCC2) activity may cause depolarizing effect of γ-aminobutyric Acid (GABA), and contribute to epileptogenesis in human temporal lobe epilepsy. NKCC1 facilitates accumulation of chloride inside neurons and favors depolarizing responses to GABA. In the current pilot study we provide the first documented look at ...

We investigated the type and frequency of interictal primary headache and peri-ictal headache in 109 patients with partial-onset and 26 patients with generalized onset seizures in this study. Interictal headaches were present in 50 (40.7%) of 135 patients. Comparing the interictal headache on the basis of seizure type, we couldn't find any significant difference between the seizure groups. Seve...
